Sleepy Hole Golf Course Details
Off the 18th tee at Sleepy Hole, you aim at a mansion. The Obici House was home to Amedeo Obici, who founded Planter's Peanuts, and his wife Louise. Since 2012 the pro shop and the grille have been inside. A good drive can run to the bottom of the hill and leave you a short iron in.
Russell Breeden laid it out along the Nansemond River in 1973, and the LPGA's Crestar Classic was played here in the 1980s. Tom Clark oversaw its renovation in 2003. It's an old-school layout, with trees along the fairways and well placed bunkers. On the 9th, mind the wind coming off the river.
From the bar you can look out on the 18th green and the river.
