Before you pull a club on the 7th at Brigantine Golf Links, check the flag on the 6th green behind you. It's a short par 3 with a shallow green and bunkers on both sides, and the wind there is tricky, so a knockdown shot pays off.
Wind is the story here. This is a Scottish-style links on the barrier island of Brigantine, across the bridge from Atlantic City. It was built in 1927, and Wayne Stiles and his partner John Van Kleek designed it. It's nearly treeless, with views of the bay and native marsh, and sea breezes prevail.
The Grille Room looks out on the 1st tee and the 9th green, and anyone can eat at The Cove.
The City of Brigantine now runs it directly.
