At Packsaddle Ridge, the mountain reads your putts for you. Putt toward it and the ball slows down. Putt away from it and the ball runs. The course repeats that reminder on hole after hole, and it pays to listen.
Every hole here has a name. The Old Tree opens the round by climbing uphill, and The Pond closes it.
In between, No. 14, The Bridge, is drivable if you can carry it all the way. No. 15, The Packsaddle, is a par 3, and its green is the biggest on the course. Ride your cart up to the black tee there for the view.
It's semi-private, open to the public, about 15 minutes from downtown Harrisonburg. There's a senior league if you'd like a regular game.
