Bill "Farmer" Meadows started playing golf in 1990, then pictured a different sort of course on his Santa Gertrudis cattle farm in Locust Grove. Bill Ward, Jr. turned that idea into 27 holes across 268 acres, played as three nines: Island Green, Waterfall and Longest Hole.
Expect an island green, a waterfall par 3, seven water crossings, elevated tees, bounce bunkers, and rock and railroad tie walls around the greens. The Longest Hole nine holds the signature hole, a par 6 that stretches 841 yards from the championship tee. Its card saves the 1 handicap for No. 11, a 493-yard par 4 from the Blues.
Colored arrows on the paths mark each nine. The Tuesday Goofers have played here for almost 30 years, the Thursday League pairs up 2-man teams, and the Red Bull Grill serves a sit-down breakfast and lunch to golfers and non-golfers.
