Harold Paddock Sr. laid out Sugar Bush in 1965 and let the land decide the routing, so the 18 holes follow the rolling hills of Garrettsville in Northeast Ohio. It's a public course with a split personality. Mature trees squeeze the fairways on the front nine, then the back nine opens up and rises and falls enough to make you think hard about every club.
Camp Creek winds its way through the property, and the Boxcar Bridge sits on No. 15.
For a party or a post round gathering, the Lakeview Room holds 25 to 64 guests with a view of Potter Lake, and the Fireplace Room, built around a stone fireplace, takes 50 to 80 or more guests. An outdoor patio looks out over the course.
